Is this actually free?

Yes. No cut of anything you claim, no warranties sold. A student project built to be free.

Do I need my receipt?

Not to check. To claim you usually need proof, and a bank statement line often counts.

What if it finds nothing?

It says so plainly. The rules are collected by hand, so an unusual brand may come back empty.

Is this legal advice?

No. Owed points at published rules and tells you what to ask. Every result links to its source.

Where does my data go?

Nowhere. Your shelf lives in your own browser. There is no server collecting what you own.
